Acreage
South Blakely Maintenance Association South Blakely and Armitage Blakely
consist of approximately 500 acres at the extreme south end of the island. An Open Space
Conservation Easement and a Reciprocal Easement limit the maximum number of lots to 30,
each of which may have a main home and one guesthouse. These conservation documents, the
SPU Conservation Easement and a San Juan Preservation Trust Easement all protect the
wildlife, forests and severely limit future development on most of the island. South
Blakely is a very fine community of superlative homes and spectacular waterfront acreages.
The community caretakers maintain the water system, roads, community dock, patrol the
beaches and do security checks for the owners. They are also available on a time available
basis to do specific work for individual owners. Current yearly homeowners assessments are
based on the county assessed value. Owners have easement rights to use the lakes and hike,
bike and drive in the 3000+-acres of surrounding protected forestland. An Access Easement
agreement with San Juan Aviation Estates gives the South Blakely owners rights to use the
private runway, tie down planes and use the roads to reach the marina/store. |
